Getting a little crafty….

I have been trying out some new ideas for my Etsy store.  After browsing around on Etsy for some ideas I decided to try to make a little notebook portfolio.  After creating my own pattern (again!) this is what I came up with:

I am very excited with the way it turned out!  I think I will change up the ribbon closure and make a velcro closure instead.  The ribbon takes too long to tie.  It’s got great pockets and a pen holder too!

I plan on using mine mostly for my grocery list, the pockets on the side are wonderful for holding coupons!  But, I have also been using it as a task list portfolio.  Something about this super cute notebook makes me want to actually write down the things I need to do and sometimes complete them too!

Meet my new friend Modge Podge!

After reading some fun crafty blogs I got inspired to try this stuff out.  I had never decoupaged before but I figured it couldn’t be too hard.

I found this table in my parents garage the last time we were visiting them.  My husband laughed at me for wanting to take it home with us, I think his exact words were “what are you going to do with it?”  He knows I have this crazy habit of collecting “projects,” so I think he was just trying to stop me from collecting another “project.”

Anyway, I decided to try out some Modge Podge on this table.

First I stained the table a beautiful “special walnut.”  Then I cut out lots of little pieces of scrapbook paper and modge podged them together to cover the top of the table.  I put two or three layers of Modge Podge on the top and after it had all dried I put a satin clear coat finish on the whole table.  I think it came out pretty darn cute.  Now I just have to find a place to put the table

Oh and the whole project cost me all of  $3!!  The table was free, the scrapbook paper was 59 cents, the stain was lying around in our shed, and the satin finish I found on sale for $2.30!  Pretty great new table for 3 bucks!

Apron

We have a ladies tea coming up this weekend at church and I volunteered to put together a little basket of things I had crafted to give away as a door prize.  I knew I was going to include one of my brag books but I couldn’t think of anything else.  Then one day it came to me….an apron!  Who doesn’t love  a fun apron!  I couldn’t find a pattern I loved and that was free so I decided to try my hand at making my own pattern!  Using my own pattern worked and this really fun apron is the finished product!

I have some great ideas for more fun aprons with really cool appliques.  I’ll get started on those just as soon as I finish all of the other “fun” projects I have started!
