My New Friend

modge podgeMeet my new friend Modge Podge!

After reading some fun crafty blogs I got inspired to try this stuff out.  I had never decoupaged before but I figured it couldn’t be too hard.

I found this table in my parents garage the last time we were visiting them.  My husband laughed at me for wanting to take it home with us, I think his exact words were “what are you going to do with it?”  He knows I have this crazy habit of collecting “projects,” so I think he was just trying to stop me from collecting another “project.”

Anyway, I decided to try out some Modge Podge on this table.

First I stained the table a beautiful “special walnut.”  Then I cut out lots of little pieces of scrapbook paper and modge podged them together to cover the top of the table.  I put two or three layers of Modge Podge on the top and after it had all dried I put a satin clear coat finish on the whole table.  I think it came out pretty darn cute.  Now I just have to find a place to put the table 😉

Oh and the whole project cost me all of  $3!!  The table was free, the scrapbook paper was 59 cents, the stain was lying around in our shed, and the satin finish I found on sale for $2.30!  Pretty great new table for 3 bucks!
